Grand Plan Evaluation

  1. Analysis

  2. Before we began, we had to do a create a survey and, in the survey, I asked a series of questions and these gave us an idea of the type of short film people would like to see. From this I saw drama and action have become more popular. Young people and 13 to 18 were majority of the part takers in the survey. If I were to do the questionnaire again, I would change some of the questions and add extra questions like an opinion based question so I can see what thier thoughts are on the topic.

  3. Pre-production

  4. We got into small groups and in our small group we had to each make a script that was each different. They all had to be around 5 minutes long. They all had to have a theme, then we had to go to Nigel and discuss our own ideas on camera and agree on which on was the best to do. Once we had decided on the short movie, we were going to do we had to start planning it out. We all got assigned roles to do I got director, Nikoll got sound man, Anthony got camera man, Reece got producer, Adam got script writer. Then we all had to do sperate paperwork. I did the story board, Nikoll did the call sheet and risk assessment. Recce did the location recce. Anthony did the date planning. Adam did the music sheet. What I would do differently is to make sure we all get the work done quicker and not procrastinate. Overall, we did decide on the short film we were going to do.

  5. Filming

  6. We went out on Monday and we wrote all the equipment down that we had to take. We recorded for the whole day. We first started at the college then went to a house where the rest of the scenes were recorded. On the first day we did not finish all the recording because of the camera and battery dying. We then went out on wednesday and finished recording but the clips got corrupted. So, then we went out next monday and finished all the recording. We reshot multiple scenes to make sure that they were decent and placed the camera in multiple places to make sure there are different angles. In conclusion I would make sure to check all the equipment before we got out and record and make sure to have extra batteries for all the equipment. We managed to sync up the audio perfectly to the clips. We worked very well as a team and did have a few times where we did procrastinate.

  7. Editing

  8. Once we had all the clips, we uploaded them to one drive and shared them to each other. Then we all downloaded it and organized the clips from the ones we needed and the clips we did not. Then I put the clips into premiere pro and started editing from the start. I went thought and every different angle and I put it into the timeline and substituted it in. I added an adjustment layer, this adds black bars to the video giving the effect it is more serious. I added the law and order sound effect when the text appears to make it more dramatic. I also added a transition when Adam speaks to show both reactions of the other characters. I added non copyright music from YouTube and to set the mood of the short film. I also added slow motion when the glass gets knocked over. I also added a heartbeat and police sound effects. What I would do differently is to discuss with the group what we are all going to add in terms of sound effects and genral effects. The sounds added fit very well with the finished product and really brings the scenes to life because the audience and fell what the characters feel.
